Our Foundation
ADAV High School was established on 10th September 1968 to provide quality education to the wards of HAL employees and tribal students from adopted and peripheral villages. Inaugurated by the then Governor Ajyodhya Nath Khosla, the school has grown into a leading Odia Medium co-educational institution, now running classes from LKG to X.
Early Development
Originally functioning with classes VI–X, it was later upgraded to include pre-primary levels. Over the years, the school has maintained strong student strength, welcoming children from HAL's Sai Sports Training Centre and nearby tribal communities.
Leadership and Vision
The school's foundation was shaped by its first Headmaster, Late R.L. Kapoor, whose vision emphasized holistic education, interpersonal growth, and lifelong learning. Supported by a dedicated team of 20 teachers, he set the tone for academic and cultural excellence.
Expansion and Inclusivity
In the 1970s, ADAV came under the aegis of HAL through the Aeronautics Education Society (AES). Recognizing the importance of girls' education, Aeronautics Girls' High School was established in 1984 and later merged with ADAV in 2017, further strengthening its inclusive approach. To expand opportunities at the primary level, BAL SURABHI (LKG–V) was opened in 2010.
Today
Today, the school has 675 students, 25 teachers, and 2 non-teaching staff, with most students coming from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Despite challenges, ADAV High School continues to uphold its commitment to all-round development and academic excellence, remaining a trusted pillar of education in the region.

Recent Success Stories
Tanmay Kumar Pradhan was selected for the state quiz competition and awarded along with Bijaylaxmi Pandit who stood First in Elocution Competition at Zonal Level on "Pani Panchayat Pakshya" organized by Govt. of Odisha. Swastika Mishra of Class-IX achieved the Third position in plant identification competition on Environment-cum-Mineral awareness Programme conducted by NALCO, Damanjodi at Panchpatmali Mines.
It is a matter of great pleasure that Sagar Ganda, a student of Class-X got a Literacy Fund award in "Pathani Samanta Mathematics Scholarship" and made us proud.
ADAV High School March past contingent (Boys & Girls) participated in 79th Independence Day March past parade held at HAL Stadium Sunabeda. We are glad to inform you that our Boys' March past contingent was adjudged as the 'BEST MARCH PAST CONTINGENT'.
Another Girls' March past contingent (Integrity Circle) participated along with DAV VS Vidyalaya students in 79th Independence Day March past parade held at HAL Stadium, Sunabeda.
Our School students participated in Inter School/College Science Exhibition, Art (Drawing) & Slogan Competition organized by Sunabeda Municipality on the occasion of LSG Day – 2025.

Academic, Co-curricular and Sports Achievements

It is a matter of great pleasure to mention here that the school has been showing excellent performance in the High School Certificate Examination every year. In 2025, 127 students were enrolled for High School Certificate Examination. The School result is 98.42%. Master Tanmaya Kumar Pradhan became the topper of the School securing 529 marks out of 600.
Not only in academics, our students have achieved laurels in other co-curricular activities in national and state platforms.
Sports Excellence
Sports and Games are essential for the students to keep them Physically and Mentally sound. Moreover it increases the immunity of the students. Physical Education is being given in the field of Sports, Games, Yoga etc. by the experienced Physical Education Teacher.
Every year the students of our school participate in various sports and games activities in Block, District, State and National level and have won Gold, Silver & Bronze medals in Athletics, Archery, Football, Cricket.
Scouts & Guides Activities
Fostering leadership, discipline, and community service through scouting and guiding programs.
Scouts & Guides is a voluntary, non-political, educational movement for young people, open to all without distinction of origin, race or creed, in accordance with the purpose, principles and method conceived by the founder Lord Baden-Powell in 1907.
The founder of this movement Lord Baden Powell of Gilwell speaks of scouting/guiding as a game for boys and girls.
Program Structure
Scout/guide training is graded to suit the physiologic needs of boys/girls and young men/women of different age group. It is divided into three/four sections. First we have "Cub" for boys "Bulbul" for girls for age group 6+ to 10+, then scouting for boys and guiding for girls of age group 10+ to 17 and thirty Rover and Ranger for young men and women of 16+ to 25 years of age group.
Scouting and guiding are two great world movements, are working for the advancement of boys and the other for girls. In India scouting and guiding come under the organization called "The Bharat Scouts and Guides".
Gatherings and Activities
To fulfill the aim and objectives of this movement we scouts/guide and scouter/guider should come together at frequent intervals in different level. In District level the gathering called Rallies in State level called "Jamborette" and in National and International level the gathering of Scout/Guide are described as "Jamboree".
Achievements
It is a proud privilege to that till date our 30 Nos of guides have been awarded "Rashtrapati Award" and became Rashtrapati guide and 160 Nos of guides became Rajyapuraskar guides. Through different assignment our "Kaveri guide company" has been awarded "Prime-Minister shield" in national level for two times and state level got Chief-Minister shield for once.
Other Government Programmes
Active participation in government-initiated programs for holistic development.
The Teachers and students actively participate in various programmes such as Sports, Games, JRC, Scout, Guide and training programmes etc. organized by Govt. from time to time.
